Jeryl Sasser

Jeryl Henry Braxton Sasser Jr. was born in Dallas, Texas on February 13, 1979.

He attended Kimble High School, the same school as his brother, Jason, and lead the school to back-to-back Texas 5A championships (1996-97).

After Kimball, he attended Southern Methodist University and played four seasons for the Mustangs.

  • All time scorer in SMU’s history with 1,992 points

  • SMU records-2nd in free throws (511), 5th in field goals made (674), 3rd in rebounds (976), steals (197), 3 point field goals attempted (475)

  • Four time All Western Athletic Conference selection

  • WAC player of the year

  • First Mustang player to lead team in rebounding, assists and steals

  • Lead WAC in rebounding, 5th in scoring, 6th in assist and 9th in steals

  • Selected by Orlando Magic with 22nd pick in the first round of 2001 NBA draft. Second pick in SMU's history.
