Texas Volvo Club Meet Saturday, July 18th, 2009, at Inks Lake State Park just west of Burnet, TX.
I've planned a meet for the Texas Volvo Car Club enthusiasts on July 18th at Inks Lake State Park. It is open to anyone who wishes to join us for a Texas Hill Country Turbobricks and Texas Volvo Club Event.
This is going to be a relaxed enjoyable event where everybody can do their own thing, drive some nice country roads, sit back, enjoy a cool beverage and eat BBQ. There won't be any official car judging. Bringing chairs would be a good idea. Picnic tables are provided at the pavilion.
Where: 3630 Park Road 4 West Burnet TX 78611 512/793-2223.
Reservations are set for the Group Picnic Pavilion #1 for the day use only.
(It is on the peninsula in the center of the map)
When: Saturday, July 18th, 2009, 10:00am to 9:00 pm.
The fee is $2 each (covers the $20 I put up for the Pavilion) plus $5 per person at the gate.
The Picnic Pavilion has accommodations for 25 people and 25 cars and it is right on the lake for great picture opps.
Activities are swimming, boating, hiking, and cook-out. For the BBQ several people have expressed a desire to get BBQ at Coopers in Llano. Take a drive to Coopers or bring your own and cook it on the grill. I will bring some charcoal and BBQ stuff. BYO beverages.
There will be a short Hill Country ride through some nice back roads scheduled for 2-3 pm. See the Road Rally route map below.
I've got the Pavilion reserved for us from 10 am till 9 pm but won't make it until about 11:00am.
I'm going to bring some barbecue essentials, like charcoal and utensils, a few burgers, steaks and dogs. If anyone would like to bring anything please do like potato salad, etc. I could use some help slinging burgers.
