                   ROBIN
Robin is Batman's sort-of partner. There have been
3 Robin's in Batman's life so far. Robin is the
lighter side to Batman's persona, laughing, joking,
even his uniform of bright red, green, and yellow
is a change from the Dark Knight. Robin made his
debut in Detective Comics #38 released in 1940.
There was lots of controversy on whether to bring
a young boy in as Batman's counterpart but after it
was released there was a change in heart. The Boy
Wonder was a success and has been with Batman ever
      since.
RICHARD (DICK) GRAYSON

Dick Grayson was the first boy to put on the suit of Robin and fight crime by Batman's side. He was a young boy that worked with his parents in a circus as a Trapeze act, "The Flying Grayson's". One night when they were performing a man named Tony Zucco (Two-Face in the 1995 movie-Batman Forever) cut the wires killing all the members of the Grayson's with the exception of young Dick.Bruce Wayne was in attendance in the crowd that night and saw what had happened. The young boy was devastated, his parents were dead and he had nowhere to go. The ropes on the Trapeze were not frayed by accident, they were cut, his parents were murdered before his eyes. Bruce, seeing himself in the boy took the young Grayson into his house as his new ward. Young, Dick Grayson was an amazing acrobat. And eventually Bruce told the boy of his secret; he was Batman. He allowed Dick to become his partner, Robin, The Boy Wonder. For many years the two fought side by side until one night something went wrong. They were after the Joker, Batman's arch nemesis when the Joker ended this relationship with a single shot fired into Robin. Dick was almost killed that night and Batman felt it was his fault and never allowed Dick to wear the Robin costume with him again. Dick took the costume and joined the Teen Titans later shedding the image of Robin and becoming the leader of the Titans as Nightwing.
JASON TODD

Another young Robin entered Batman's life, after Jason Todd was caught stealing the tires off the Batmobile. Batman took him in and Jason became Bruce's new ward and the second Robin. But good things don't last especially in Batman's life it seems. Jason was reckless and cocky, not very sensible. He went searching for his mother who he thought was dead and ran into the Joker. For the second time the Joker destroyed Robin but this time the encounter was fatal. Jason was killed by the Joker after being severely beaten by the joker and locked in a room with his mother that later blew up. Batman is permanently scarred from this incident. He feels it is his fault that Jason is dead. Jason's death was determined by a poll that was taken whether to kill him or not. Obviously the number of votes to kill him was higher than the number of votes not to.So DC didn't kill Jason, the fans did.
TIMOTHY DRAKE

Batman doesn't care what happens to himself anymore and would of died if he kept it up. A young boy who had done what no one in the world had been able to do; he figured out that Batman is Bruce Wayne, Dick Grayson is Nightwing and that Jason was Robin. He goes searching for Dick to tell him about Batman's state of mind and that he's in trouble. He asks Dick to put on the Robin costume once again, he says that Batman needs Robin now but it being to difficult to do Dick just goes to help Batman as Nightwing. Timothy is now in the Batcave and with Alfred. He knows that Batman and Nightwing are in trouble and with Alfred's help he lives out his dream and puts on the Robin costume. He saves Batman and Nightwing from Two-Face and after some convincing becomes the new Robin.Batman doesn't want what happened to Jason to happen again and makes Tim train very hard and is always watching out for him.Tim eventually goes solo and gets his own comic after AzBats tries to kill him but still helps Batman out. He also got a new Robin costume and his own car, the Redbird. In the (1997 movie-Batman and Robin), the Redbird is a motorcycle.

This is the way Robin, aka Dick Grayson appears in the current animated & 1966 TV series.
