i can’t really discuss current events
I don’t read the newspapers anymore
or watch the news on tv
I strive to stay
somewhat uninformed
in these days
when devestating realities
rain from the skies
like showers of meteors
that only yesterday
seemed many light years away
and the poor pummeled planet
bears mountainous layers of the fallen rubble
their value is diminished
the rare and priceless
through proliferation
have become the worthless abundant
once again
I have neither the strength
nor the inclination
to bear the burden
of a wealth of knowledge
not at today’s prices
