This is the classic tale of the rich valley girl sacrificing everything (well, life in the valley) to go after the love of her life after he dumped her, only to discover that he's really a creep and to find her true self and true love along the way.
It's like Clueless only with Reese Witherspoon instead of Alicia Silverstone, and it takes place in law school instead of high school.
Storywise, it's incredibly predictable. My god, is it predictable.
There's actually pretty much no point in watching this movie. You already know what's going to happen. You know how it will end. You know everything the minute the opening theme song starts. The entire film can be summed up into one word:
Meh.
At least it didn't have Kevin Costner in it.
