Mumford

Mumford is the story of a small town (called Mumford) and its town psychotherapist (called Dr. Mumford). Dr. Mumford is very helpful to all his patients and is highly respected within his field. He helps people with their problems and really makes a difference, just like you'd expect. One of the patients he helps is a young divorced woman with chronic fatigue syndrome. He starts seeing her regularly, and they go for walks (to deal with the fatigue). Well, it's not long before Dr. Mumford meets Skip (Jason Lee). Skip is a multi-billionaire who pretty much wns 23% of the modem market. His problem is that he can't get into any kind of a relationship with anyone without it being about his money. Skip is so lonely, in fact, that he has been working on making a robot woman in secret. Well, needless to say, Skip and Dr. Mumford become friends, and Dr. Mumfird has a secret, too. It turns out that Dr. Mumford never actually got his doctorate. In fact, he never took any psychology courses in college. He's a complete fraud, but he's good at it. Skip promises not to tell.

Meanwhile, the good doctor is getting through to his patients, and they're starting to fall in love and be happy. Skip falls in love with Mumford's downstairs neighbor, and Mumford falls in love with the divorcee (much to her mother's chagrin). This causes a bit of a problem, since it's unethical for a doctor to date his patients. Course, it's also unethical to treat patients when you have no qualifications whatsoever. Anyway, as luck would have it, Unsolved Mysteries had a report on a former IRS agent who mysteriously disappeared. Everyone in town sees it. They don't mind, for the most part, and Mumford gets sentenced to three months in jail. He also gets engaged to his patient, and the movie ends.

This movie didn't suck. It was kinda cute, in fact, and it was pretty strange to see Jason Lee in a non-Kevin-Smith movie. (I haven't seen Almost Famous yet.) I enjoyed it and would recommend it.

I guess this review is pretty pointless, since there's really nothing funny or witty or sarcastic. Oh well.
