Materials:
  • 2 envelopes
  • something to be signed (if nothing is available, use 2 index cards).
  • proper postage
  • paper
  • pen/pencil

    Step 1
Find out who you want an autograph from. Browse through my pages for how long it takes, what you get, and where you send it.

    Step 2
Get two envelopes. One should fit in the other (If you are sending a card to sports stars, just use business envelopes with one 33 cent stamp on each. If you are sending an 8x10, send your photo and a folded 9x11 envelope inside another 9x11 envelope).

    Step 3
On one envelope, write your own address. Put this in the other envelope, and write the address of the person on that. Put postage on both. Be sure to include a return address in case you get a RTS(return to sender).

    Step 4
Write a polite letter to the person. Make it about half a page, with two or three small paragraphs. In the first, explain how much you love his or her work. In the next, politely ask for an autograph. Then be sure to thank him for taking the time to read your letter.

    Step 5
Send the letter out and be patient. Most likely, you won't hear back for a couple of weeks. However, some may take only days, some may take months, and others you may never hear from again. I have provided the dates on my pages so you will have an idea of how long it should take.

    Step 6
If you score a success, you should receive an autograph of the celebrity. Many celebrities provide their own photos, while baseball players usually expect some baseball cards to sign.
