Orea Alvin Ehlers, Jr. was born in Corpus Christi, Texas (September 7, 1922) to Orea Alvin Ehlers, Sr. and Francis Rebecca Walker. He was raised in Odem, Texas on the family farm. On February 26, 1945, he married Norma Jean Clendennen (b: November 10. 1922 in Texon, Texas), daughter of Matthew Bolen (M.B.) Clendennen and Bernice Elizabeth O'Neill of Sinton, Texas.
Orea and Norma Jean had two daughters: Orene Elizabeth Ehlers (b: October 27, 1945) and Barbara Jean Ehlers (b: August 2, 1947), both in Sinton, Texas. They raised their daughters in Corpus Christi, Texas
Orene Elizabeth Ehlers Custer and her husband Mark Douglas Custer who live at Lake Corpus Christi, Texas
Orene's daughter: Lawrene Elizabeth Harris (b: October 30, 1970)
Lawrene's children: Colin (b: October 16, 1989) and twins: Trey and Troy (b: February 13, 1995)
Barbara Jean Ehlers Farrier and her husband Garner Gene Farrier who live in Aransas Pass, Texas.
Barbara's son Christopher Noel Stephens (b: January 11, 1969) who lives in Wichita, Kansas
