      Ludlow's Story

After 2 years it finally dawned on me that maybe I should tell the story of Ludlow.
Before I begin I'd like to thank my good friend Tee, who made this background set.
The color is a fantastic match to Ludlow's actual color.
I fell in love with Ludlow at first sight.
"First sight" was when a group of guys moved in across the street from where I lived,
back when I was 17 years old.
I don't know exactly what attracted me to this truck,
but for some reason I decided I just had to have it!
More often than not it was being towed home in the evenings,
and had a tow bar attached to the front... permanantly.

I ended up with one of these guys as my boyfriend,
and had told his roommate many times that I would own that truck!
He said it would never happen,
that he would never sell to me because I was a girl.
When I saved up enough money to make an offer,
my boyfriend went to his roommate and handed him a sob story about
      "a friend of his,
with a wife and two kids,
who was out of work and needed the truck to be able to get a job".
Since the truck was broken down at the time,
and the guy needed the money,
he agreed to sell without meeting "the friend".
      He signed it over,
and you can imagine his shock when
      WE
pushed it across the street to my house!!!

Once we got it to our house my dad and I ripped into it.
I had a long and dirty job ahead of me cleaning parts,
but I wanted that truck and this was part of having it.
My dad decided that if I was gonna drive it,
I was gonna know how to work on it!
So we rebuilt the engine and he was ready to go.
The name "Ludlow" came from a radio commercial that was running at the time.
      This was in California.

The tow bar had been removed of course,
but luckily we kept it because it was only a year later that we moved to Texas.
Ludlow made it here and ran off and on for years.
After our second son was born Ludlow became David's work truck.
He eventually blew yet another motor, David's good at that :)
the third I think, maybe fourth that Ludlow has had.
Now Ludlow is sitting and rusting.
We can't afford to fix him again at this time.
Our youngest son says he wants to fix him up and drive him,
      who knows... maybe he will.
