The Elder Family
The anals of Elder family history as I know it today can be traced back to 1794 with the birth of David Elder. It is not clearly proven to me who the father of David Elder is. David was born in Lincoln county North Carolina in 1794(sources 1). Nothing is known about the childhood of David Elder. We do not know where he lived other than the probablity that it was Lincoln county North Carolina.
David met and married Sussanah Hyde sometime before 18XX and the two began a family.
By 1833 David and his wife Sussannah were living in Macon County North Carolina. I have been told that Sussanah was a physician, and I have been told that she was born in England. However the 1850 census of Macon county NC states that she was born in Lincoln county N.C.
David was at some point called into the ministry. He began preaching at a church just outside Knoxville Tennessee. I am unsure about how long he stayed there or what the dates would have been.
David and Sussanah were blessed with the following children.(sources 2)
Elizabeth Telitha Elder Hedgecoke
Margaret Minerva Elder Jordan Earp
David and Sussanah at some point moved to Texas. I have never found them in any Texas town or county. I will update this homepage as information comes to me.
