Late Breaking News
(May 13, 1999)
It is reported that police have executed a search warrent on a video rental store for rental records. There is speculation that another student may be involved, but no evidence was ever found to prove this theory.
Apparently, there are also questions about the purchase of the guns used in the massacre. Purchase of weapons for someone else, who cannot legally buy them, may be illegal.
Two more individuals who knew the suspected killer, Harris, are being questioned by the police.
In June charges were filed against Philip Joseph Duran, 22, who was also employed with the killers at a Blackjack Pizza Parlor and was the go-between from them to Mark Manes, who sold them the TEC-DC9. Both men were charged with illegally selling a handgun to a minor and also possession of a dangerous or illegal weapon.
Both men received prison terms.
Conyers, Georgia
(May 20, 1999)
Exactly one month after Columbine, another psycho has opened fire on his fellow students! He is quoted as saying, the day after Columbine, that it should have happened at Heritage (Heritage HS, Conyers, GA).
Within the last week he said he was going to shoot people, but no one believed him.
Today, the 15 year-old opened fire and randomly wounded 6 fellow students; fortunately, no one died. His motive was stated as depression over a problem with his girlfriend.
Pearl, Mississippi
On Oct. 1, 1998, Luke Woodham stabbed his mother, then went to school, where he killed two classmates and wounded seven others. It was later discovered that he was the designated "assassin" of a group of students calling themselves the Kroth.
After the Woodham murders, police arrested seven boys, ages 16 to 18, who belonged to the group. The leader of the group, an 18 year old graduate of Pearl High School, known as Father, is alleged to have plotted other killings with his "followers". They also planned to lay seige to the school, murder their "enemies", and seek haven in Cuba.
Woodham apparently went in early and began his murder spree a week before the seige of the school was to take place.
