Deidre amongst the trees.

As I walk in the garden I hear...
the beautiful sounds of the songbirds
They ring so true in my head
I hear a lonely cry in the trees.
Not just a breeze in the limbs
but a cry amongst the trees
My heart races as if from fear
What is it that I hear?
Down my cheek flows a lost tear.
Why a tear I think to myself
Such a beautiful voice from the trees.
I follow the cries from the trees
It takes me to the forest so deep.
my eyes still in the middle of a weep
I follow the cries with an open ear
What is it that I hear?
Visions dance before my weary eyes
Not forming tears nor cries
I venture into the unknown blackness
Entering a new realm
I touch the trees with reluctant palms
The fear grows inside my soul
Still there in the trees
is the soothing voice I hear
So far away but yet so near
Why do I cry from fear
This voice has gotten so near
it shakes the ground beneath me
It has brought me to my knees
It is the wonder to my eyes

The Crystal Rose

there was a crystal castle
above a crystal cave
the grounds were choked with weeds and thorns
to venture there was brave

one day i got my courage up
to seek-i know not why
i started to that castle
"neath a dark and gloomy sky

though scratced, and cut
and ripped and torn
i reached it -i didnt fail
on that cold forbidding morn

the castle hall was empty
the dust so very thick
but neath my feet,my footprints
showed a floor of pure glass brick

and over in the corner
a stairway curling high
i vowed to climb those crystal steps
yes...right up to the sky

yet up and up and higher
through cobwebs,dust and grime
the staicase never seemed to end
an everlasting climb

finaly at the very top
there stood a tiny room
i thought that i could touch the sky
if it wasnt for the gloom

there on a tiny table
in the middle of the floor
there as a dusty crystal rose
left there years before

the finish it was stained and crazed
the lustre there was none
i wondered where it came from
who's heart it might have won

where might have been its travels
who might have left it here
from the corner of my eyelid
there fell a tiny tear

as the corner of a petal
did it perchance to brush
the sun broke through the cloudy sky
my heart felt such a rush

that tiny stained crazed petal
threw off such a glow
the room filled with a brilliance
it touched my heart, i know

now,..after many years have passed
i've made my mark since then
that castle now belongs to me
the grounds are clear again

up in that highest tower
my hearts most dear repose
in the center of that table
there glows that crystal rose

Somewhere South of Midnight

somewhere south of midnight
in my deepest reverie
i sleep serene,dream smiling
thats when you come to me
and as i gaze upon your face
your breath soft in my ear
i revel in the ecstasy
my arms they hold you near
your hair falls soft upon my cheek
your tender lips brush mine
my soul forever vows to your's
forever "i'll be thine"
the beating of our gentle hearts
beat rythym just as one
the look of love upon your face
could soon ecipse the sun
but all too soon there breaks the dawn
the "time of truth " they say
and empty arms encompass
the pillow where i lay
but morn is not forsaken
and day doth have its part
forever i will carry you.....
right here in my heart

A Fairy Dream?

tis a morning wrought wth fairy dust
the foliage laden with dew
the magic born
upon this morn
has surely come from you

the fairys cast there magic spell
and coat my very dreams
but whence they came
just you can name
you bade them here it seems

tis in the dark they take my heart
on light and gossamer wings
they do their deed
plant a seed
on waking -my soul sings

so you see these words i spout
are not really mine
the fairies sow
from you i know
my words are truly thine

like the magical fragerance of a poppy field, your mesmerizing words fill my mind
