PREPARATION Preparation for meditation is probably the MOST important part of this journey. But, remember when you meditate you are truly opening and putting yourself in a vulnerable state. We all need to be well protected anytime we take a spiritual journey or quest (and, this… to me… is what meditation is). Meditation can be used for many things… but, for me it is a special time where I can relax, balance and center. It is crucial for me and I try to do it as often as I can. But, please realize that for most, meditation though sounding easy is really not. It teaches and takes much patience… it also teaches and takes much practice. Most are not “fluent” at this in the beginning… When I first began meditating… I simply fell asleep. This happened for months. The first thing I realized was that I could not meditate in bed. I found a chair in my family room that works best for me. You need to first find a quiet and relaxing place where you will not be disturbed for your meditation. Set the tone for you individually. Candles are very nice or any kind of aroma therapy that appeals to you. Music is a wonderful addition (is best if you use something without lyrics)… drumming, chanting, sounds of the elements, etc. are all very nice. Lighting is important… I personally like a low light or just the glow of candles. All these things make a very nice environment for you to begin. After these things are done… then, sit back and close your eyes for a few moments. Think about the good things that have happened that day. Even if it has not been a good day; do your best to find at least one good thing about this day. Try to regulate your breathing and just relax. THIS FIRST MEDITATION IS A CHAKRA CLEARING/CLEANSING MEDITATION Now, you are ready to begin the first steps of meditation. You will need to take 5-6 deep breaths. Breathe in through your nose… totally filling your lungs: then, exhale through your mouth… totally emptying your lungs. This is wonderful and helps you to calm and relax. Breathing exercises are very important. (btw… this is an excellent exercise to do periodically throughout your day… it will help to keep you balanced). After breathing and relaxing… begin to visualize and take your awareness to each of your body parts … beginning with your toes. Move slowly up from your toes… to the bottom of your feet, your heels, your ankles, your calves, knees, lower thigh and so on… When you get to the top of your head… visualize a pillar of bright white light coming from above. Allow this shaft of light to begin spinning and spreading until it is wide enough to flow down over your body… encasing your body in this protective light. (will create a very nice and warm feeling) If you would like or feel the need for additional protection… you can visualize a blue ring of protection around the base of the white light… all the way around. When you are ‘here’ for a few minutes experiencing this warmth of protectiveness and love you are ready to move into your meditation. Visualize your crown chakra as an opening… I picture a funnel with the skinny end going inside… breathe in through the opening and then exhale out of the opening… do this 3x slowly and gently. Move to the front of your third eye doing the same… on to your throat chakra, your heart chakra, your solar plexus, 2nd chakra and on to your base chakra… doing the same with the breathing; each 3x. Then, you will move to the back of each chakra… working upwards doing the same with the breathing. Go from your base chakra to the backs of your 2nd chakra, your solar plexus, your heart chakra, your throat chakra, third eye… each time with the 3x breathing in and out. Do this slowly and methodically. As you come to your crown chakra… visualize your base and crown chakra connected… breathe in through each connectively and out through each the same way… 3x. While doing this, visualize connecting all your chakras. This is very cleansing and helps so to balance and to clear. When you are finished and ready to return… do so gently. Slowly bring your awareness back to your feet… wiggle your toes… open your eyes… sit for a few minutes and just bask in what you experienced… THE SECOND MEDITATION IS A JOURNEYING MEDITATION Always prepare and do the protection part of any meditation before meditation of any kind. This is the most important part… in my personal estimation. On this meditation… you will take a journey… this is fun and so enlightening. This is where I receive my visions, hear my guides and find so many things about myself including past life information. Meditation is truly a wonderful adventure of enlightenment. Remember always that this can be a true soul searching experience and that your heart must be clear and full of unconditional love. As I always say… if you want answers to any questions… you must look inside of you; deep in your heart… truly listen and truly hear what is being told to you… love is the key and this key is found inside your heart. This is the only place. After you have done all the preparation and protecting you are ready to begin. Visualize a place that is ‘safe’ for you… a place you enjoy being. (Personally, I go to a cottage I remember from a past life.) When you arrive at this place… stand there for a few minutes and just enjoy where you are. Visualize a well… go to the well and drop any cares and concerns that are not positive into this well. After you are through with this… step back and again look around. Has anything changed? Or is it the same? Take a mental not of all things, try to activate all of your senses with awareness… Is there a smell in the air? Are there sounds? Is there anything to taste or touch? What all do you see? Look around … there should be paths that lead somewhere of some kind. All are choices… none bad… just different… it is what you make of your choice that matters. As you pick one… follow along again experiencing all the senses have to offer. You may do what you want on your path… simply follow along taking in all around you alone or ask someone to join you (anyone you would like… and angel, a guide, anyone at all). You may want to sit on a bench or a log and just relax and meditate inside meditation. You can go places down this path… anything you can imagine can be experienced here. You are in a special place all your own making. When you are finished… come back to your ‘special place’… the place where you started. Look around and see if anything needs to be done here… maintenance… this is part of you. When you are ready to come back… do this slowly… visualize your feet… wiggle your toes… open your eyes. Sit there and go over in your mind what you saw… your experiences. You need to keep a journal on your meditative journeys. Pick up your journal right away… do not wait… and, write down each and everything you experienced… all the awarenesses of your senses that you encountered. This will be very special to you in time to come. ~ Namaste – Tami ~ Background by: SilverHair
