Tarot Spreads
Celtic Cross
Card #1 The Significator
This is the card which shows the person asking the question (the Seeker). I lay this card out as the others are laid out. Some choose it from the deck.
Card #2 The Question
This card symbolizes the question the Seeker is asking. If these first two don't make sense, I usually don't do the reading. (This could mean many things… such as, You personally are having an "off" day or the Seeker doesn't truly want to know or is hiding something they are not ready to know, etc.)
Card #3The Cross, Bridge and Block
This card shows the principles, actions or attitudes which may be holding the Seeker back, or allowing him to continue. It's the pivot point, the thing that must be changed if he doesn't like what the reading is showing.
Card #4Below You
This card shows the strengths and/or weaknesses that the Seeker has, and which are effecting this situation, or the thing in the past that gave rise to this situation. I fit's the latter, it will also show a time frame. The fifth card is about as far ahead as this was behind.
Card #5 Above You
This card shows what the Seeker is becoming, or how the situation is likely to evolve.
Card #6Behind You
The card shows a person, situation or attitude in the immediate past that has a bearing on the current situation. It also gives a time call for the next card.
Card #7Before You
This card shows what will happen in the immediate future, if things continue as they are now. Once again, it may be a person, situation or attitude that will appear. It will be about as far in the future as card #6 was in the past.
Card #8 Who You Are
This card shows the part that the Seeker is currently playing, the attitudes he is exhibiting or the situation as he sees it.
Card #9Where You Are
This card shows the environment as it relates to the Seeker in this situation. It can show the attitudes of his friends or associates, the physical problems or resources he has to deal with, etc.
Card #10Hopes and Fears
This card shows what the Seeker most wants to happen in this situation, and also what he/she fears will happen. Although this may seem contradictory, it isn't. The thing we most hope for usually brings change, and we fear change. So the Seeker may hope to marry the girl, and fear being married, all at the same time.
Card #11The Final Outcome
This card shows how the current situation is likely to turn out, if the Seeker does nothing to change it. Remember, though, that it's not a fixed outcome. More people than the Seeker are involved and are exercising their free will in this and all situations surrounding them.
There is another card you can pull if you like… I personally do this and I usually calms the Seeker in closing the reading. The card pulled from the bottom of the deck is something that the Seeker does not have to worry about. It is a nice positive closing for most readings.
Five Card Spread
Card #1The Question
This card shows the question being asked in symbolic terms. If it makes no sense, it may be best to postpone the reading for reasons stated in the Celtic Cross Spread.
Card #2The Background
This card describes the general situation and events leading up to the question.
Card #3The Seeker
This card represents the person asking the question, the Seeker. It may show what the Seeker has done to try to answer the question. Or it may indicate the character strength (or flaw) which has the most bearing here.
Card #4The Environment
This card shows the impact of the world on this situation, including the influence of friends, family and associates.
Card #5 The Answer
This card shows the answer to the question. The appropriate action to take is inherent in the interpretation of this card.
The Pyramid (ATree's personal design)
Card #1The Beginning
This card shows the beginning… or what initially brought the Seeker to the point he/she is at now.
Card #2 The Following
This card follows Card #1 to add insight as to where this beginning can or will be leading the Seeker in his/her quest for individual growth.
Card #3The Ending/New Beginning
This card follows Card #2 and should give closure to what was begun to give way to what is about to happen… a sense of change or insight into what maybe is not there that the Seeker believes could be (often represents illusion).
These three cards many times show recent past… where the Seeker has begun to search to find their path … It often shows what has brought the Seeker to the point they are now.
Card #4 Now
This card shows where the Seeker is now in their individual Spiritual Growth.
Card #5Confirmation
This card follows Card #4 and can show one of two things. This card can show that the path chosen Now is moving along in a good manner or maybe not moving along in the manner the Seeker is happy with. This can give clarity to the situation at hand.
Card #6 What is Coming
This card follows the rest and if all is moving along accordingly in the Seeker's search, this will be a positive card… showing a future of contentment and peace. But, if the Seeker's search is a bit "off" right now, this card may show that change is needed to get where he/she would rather be going.
Card #7 The Confirmation
This card should just confirm to the Seeker all that was shown… whether it is moving along in a way that the Seeker is please or if he/she see something they would prefer to change.
There is another card you can pull if you like… I personally do this and I usually calms the Seeker in closing the reading. The card pulled from the bottom of the deck is something that the Seeker does not have to worry about. It is a nice positive closing for most readings.
Yes/No Spread
The deck is shuffled and cut. The one reading deals the cards into a pile, face up, no more than thirteen cards, stopping only when an Ace turns up. If no Aces have been turned up in the three piles, the answer is firmly … No. If there is one Ace, it is a possibility but the affairs represented by the other two cards must be considered. If there are two Aces, this is likely, but take into account the affairs represented by the third card. If there are three Aces, the answer is a definite… Yes.
