A.J. CURTTRIGHT
The community was saddened Monday morning when it was learned that A.J. Curttright, eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. D.E. Curttright, had passed to the Great Beyond at about 2 o'clock that morning. A.J. had been a victim of the flu for a week or ten days and his death resulted from pneumonia following an attack of the dread disease.
Deceased was born at Olin, Iowa on January 1st, 1902, and as stated died on Monday, December 23rd 1918 in his 17th year. His early days were spent in Olin, and for a year or so he made his home in Maquoteka with his parents. Some eight years ago the family moved to Wyoming, and here A. J. spent the remainder of his days. He was a bright and happy boy and his friends were legions. At school he had the respect of his teachers and when at work on a farm or helping his father in the shop, he was greeted with that same respect. But he is gone, and in ___ saddened home there is an empty chair - a place that can never be filled. He leaves to morn his untimely death ___ broken hearted father and mother, one brother and four sisters.
Brief services were held at the home on West Jones Street, Tuesday morning, conducted by Rev. E. Carnell Wilson. The body was then taken to Olin where interment was had in the beautiful Olin Cemetery.
Mr. and Mrs. Curttright have had more than their share of sickness this year, the mother passing through a severe operation, the children, passing through a siege of the flu at the time the first wave swept over the town. A.J. submitted to a minor operation at Cedar Rapids and now this last heavy and sad blow to the family - the death of their eldest son A.J. But in all their trouble they have had the sympathy and assistance of their many friends.
