Burial was in the Clarinda Cemetery, and bearers were Larry Benke, Tony Curttright, Dennis Madsen, Edgar L. Messinger II, Terry Richardson, and Jay Ringler.
Mrs. Stan Archer was soloist, accompanied by Mrs. John Sperry.
Mrs. Messinger died unexpectantly Friday at the Clarinda Municipal Hospital.
She was born Feb. 9, 1910 at Syracuse, Nebr., the daughter of Walter and Minnie Colerick Curttright. She attended school at Palmyra, Nebr., and married Edgar Messinger Oct. 17, 1927, at Hiawatha, Ks.
The Messingers farmed in Nebraska until 1947 when they moved their farm near College Springs. They retired and moved to Clarinda in 1974.
Mrs. Messinger received her State of Iowa high school equivilancy diploma Aug. 23, 1976. She was a past president and secretary-treasurer, and very active in the VFW Auxiliary post No. 98.
Survivors include her husband and children Mrs. Raymond (Agnes) Jagger of Clarinda, Ira Messinger of Alexandria, Va., and Mrs. Allen (Norma) Griffen and Mrs. Jay (Hazel) Ringler of Colorado Springs, Colo. There are 11 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, seven brothers and two sisters.
She was preceeded in death by her parents and one sister.
