D.J. Curttright Departs This Life

David Jackson Curttright was born September 28, 1844 in Wayne county, Michigan, and died at his home in Olin, June 13, 1925.  He was aged 80 years, 8 months, and 15 days.

His parents were among the pioneers of Michigan.  Leaving the state, when the deceased was but nine years of age they came to Iowa and settled near Cherry Grove, where he grew to manhood.

At the age of 36 he united with the Christian church at Olin, from which church the funeral services were held, conducted by the Rev. Weaver of Martelle.

On April 24, 1870 he was united in marriage with Francis C. Lyons, now deceased.  To this union six children were born.  They are Charley of Martelle, Iowa; George and Harry of Cedar Rapids, and David E. of Olin.  John W. and Freeman D. have passed on ahead.

While in Olin Mr. Curttright has spent most of his time as a blacksmith, and faithfully has  he followed that work.  He was very capable in that line.

He leaves to mourn the four sons, 17 grandchildren, and seven great grandchildren.

In our sorrow we give up a father, a Christian and a friend.
