Lottie Mary Curttright, daughter of Walter and Minnie Colerick Curttright, was born August 17, 1905 at Syracuse, Nebraska. She was one of eleven children.
While she was a small child, the family moved to a farm near Dunbar, Nebraska. Lottie received her education in District 74 Rural School near Dunbar.
In 1923 she was married to Louis S. Rieke at Sidney, Iowa. During the years of their marriage they lived at Dunbar, Nebraska City, and Nemaha. It was while living in Nemaha that Mr. Rieke died on January 1, 1956. In June of that year Mrs. Rieke moved into Auburn where she has since made her home.
Mrs. Rieke always took and active part in church and community affairs in the communities where they lived. Since moving to Auburn she had joined the Presbyterian Church.
She had been in failing health for several years. In 1971 her doctor discovered that she had cancer and she was seriously ill most of the time since. She entered the Nemaha County Hospital on Friday, March 8 and passed away there late Tuesday morning, March 12, 1974 having reached the age of 68 years, six months and twenty-three days.
She was preceeded in death by her parents.
Surving are her daughter, Nadine, who lived with her mother in Auburn; ten brothers and sisters, Walter Curttright of Auburn, Mrs. Edgar (Marie) Messinger of Braddyville, Iowa, George Curttright of Brownville, Mrs. Royal (Gertrude) Nace of Portland, Oregon, Robert Curttright of Plattsmouth, Dean Curttright of Auburn, John Curttright of Shawnee Mission, Kansas, Raymond Curttright of Kansas City, Missouri, Chester Curttright of Topeka, Kansas, and Mrs. Robert (Nellie) Grooms of Nemaha, Nebraska.
