Mayfield Family History

John Mayfield – He was born about 1828 in Rutherford Co., Tennessee. John's civil war service was in the 29th and 131st Infantry Gallatin Co., Illinois. He mustered in 1862 and mustered out 1865. He is buried in Garrett Cemetery in Gallatin Co., Illinois. He married three times. His first marriage was to Catherine Arnold. They had one daughter.

1. Catherine Mayfield - Born: 1846 in Arkansas.

John’s second marriage was to Mary (Lewis?). She was born in 1828 in Arkansas and died in 1919. They had three children.

1. Amelia Jane Mayfield – Born: 1852 in Shawneetown, Illinois. She died between 1920 and 1930 of cancer. She is buried in Taylor Cemetery in Essex, Missouri. She married 4 times.

(a) Earn Mayfield – They had one daughter.

A. Ida P. Mayfield - She was born about 1870 in Gallatin Co., Illinois. She married Spencer Miller on December 18, 1888. Spencer was born in August 1873 in Illinois. They had six children.

** Minnie or Gertie married ? Robinson. One grandchild is living with Ida and Spencer in the 1910 census - Mamie Robinson born about 1909 in Missouri.

1) Minnie Miller – She was born in October 1889 in Illinois. She died prior to 1910.

2) Gertie Miller – She was born in February 1893 in Illinois. She died prior to 1910.

3) Emma Miller – She was born in November 1895 in Illinois.

4) Fannie Miller – She was born in January 1899 in Illinois.

5) Unknown Miller - Died prior to 1910.

6) Unknown Miller - Died prior to 1910.

(b) James Robert Adams - He was born about 1856. They married on July 28, 1878 in Gallatin Co., Illinois.

John’s third marriage was to Louisa Midgett Parker. She was born about 1828 in Smith Co., Tennessee. They married on August 2, 1864 in Gallatin Co., Illinois. They had two children.

1. John Logan Mayfield – He was born in October 1867 in Illinois. He married Katy Miller on November 13, 1892. She was born in July 1866 and died in 1914. They had six children. John and Katy are both buried in McGhee Cemetery, Gallatin Co., Illinois.

A. John Mayfield - He was born on December 1, 1894 in Ridgeway, Illiniois.

B. Frederick Mayfield - He was born in April 1895 in Illinois and died in 1947. He is buried in McGhee Cemetery in Gallatin Co., Illinois.

C. May Mayfield - She was born in May 1898 in Illinois.

D. Fran Mayfield - She was born in March 1900 in Illinois and died prior to 1910.

E. Unknown Mayfield - Born and died between 1900 and 1910.

F. Clyde Mayfield - Born about 1908.

2. Nancy Matilda Mayfield – She was born in March1870 in Illinois. She married John Myer. He was born about 1853. They had six children.
