Jessie
Davis (J.D.) Oldham was born in
Georgetown, Franklin Co, Kentucky in 1792.
He came to Missouri in the fall of 1829. He married Susan Jacobs.
Susan was born in 1800 in the state of Virginia. Susan died in 1837 in Calloway Co.,
Missouri. J.D. went to California in
the spring of 1849 during the time of gold discovery. J.D. died in California in 1854.
J.D. and Susan had ten children. (exact unknown order)
1. William George Oldham - He was born
in March of 1818 in Kentucky. He
married Rebecca E. Ewing on February
25, 1841. William served as a Private
(Capt. Russell’s Co., 1 Reg’t Mo. Mtd. Vols.) in the Florida War, also known as
the Seminole War in 1837. He joined on
October 6, 1837 and mustered out on February 15, 1838. William also fought for more than a year in
the Mexican War under Kearney. William
died in St. Joseph, Missouri in 1903.

2. Mary Alvira Oldham - Born May 12,
1820 in Kentucky. She married Isaac
Joshua Jarvis, son of Joshua Jarvis and Polly (Burk) Jarvis on September
27, 1846 in Kentucky. Isaac was born
February 25, 1825 and died on September 30, 1908. Mary Alvira died May 19, 1888 in Nemaha Co., Nebraska. Mary Alvira and Isaac had nine children. (see Jarvis History for complete history)

1846-1848) He was born between 1825 and 1830. (He was between 10 & 15 in 1840 census).
6. Tapley Oldham - Died in infancy in
Kentucky.
7. Susan Elizabeth Oldham - She was born
about 1828 in Kentucky and died about 1856.
She married Paschal F. Lundy
on November 16, 1847. He was born in

Oldham - Died in infancy in Calloway Co, Missouri.
9. Amanda Ann Oldham - Born March 8,
1830 in Calloway Co, Missouri. She
lived there until she was about 18 years old.
She moved to Henry Co., Missouri when her father and brother went to
California in 1849. There she lived for
five years with her sister Eva. She
moved to Holt Co., Missouri and stayed with her sister Mary Alvira Jarvis. Amanda Ann taught school in a log cabin in
Holt Co.. She met Andrew Jackson
Shepherd in the spring of 1855 at her sister Mary's home. Amanda and Andrew were married on August 12,
1857.
Andrew
was born in 1817 in Rockingham Co, North Carolina. He died March 7, 1864 and is buried in the Caton Cemetery. Amanda
never remarried. Amanda died on Friday,
April 24, 1914. She is buried in Mount
Hope Cemetery in Mound City, Missouri.
Andrew
and Amanda had four children.

William Andrew Shepherd - He was born about 1859 and died at the
age of 19 and is buried in the
Caton Cemetery. Amanda Ann called him
“Billy”.
B. Mary
Elizabeth Shepherd - She was born April 17, 1860 in Missouri. Amanda Ann called her “Mary Betty”. She married February 1, 1880 to Isaac M.
Minton. Mary and Isaac had four
children.

– She was born about 1880. She married ?
Thomas. They had one daughter.

Nemaha, Nebraska, he was born about 1863.
They had two children.

ii. Ruth Melvin - She was born about 1895 in Missouri.
D. John Allen
Shepherd - He was born March 1863 in Missouri. Amanda Ann called him
“Johnny”. He married Lura Twyman. They had one child.
