Born Sept. 6, 1907, daughter of the late Ben and Pearl Vaughn Elder, she was a homemaker and a member of the Gospel Assembly Church in Dexter.
On March 4, 1927, in Blytheville, Ark, she married J.B. Summers, who preceded her in death on Oct. 5, 1984.
Also preceding her in death were three sons, Robert Summers, Alton Summers and Lonnie Summers; one daughter Betty Phillips; two half brothers, Thurman Scurlock and B.F. Elder; two sisters, Etta Betts and Fay Summers; and one half sister, Tommye Owens.
Survivors include: four sons, Coy Summers of Paxico, Max Summers and Bill Summers of Dexter, and James Summers of Wappapello; two daughters, Joyce Summers of Dexter and Connie Turner of Eolia; one half brother, Charles Elder of Bradford, Ark.; two sisters, Virginia Adams and Ethel Dunn of Lilbourn; one half sister, Edna Mae of Louisiana; and 13 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m. today at the Rainey Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Winfred Wren officiating.
Burial will follow in the Dexter Cemetery.
