Obituary
Walter L. Curttright, Sr.

Walter Lafayette Curttright, son of Jerome and Mary Jarvis Curttright, was born in Olin, Iowa, November 14, 1877. He was one of three children. As a small boy he moved with the family to the Nemaha, Nebraska community, where he was to receive his schooling and grow to young manhood.

As a child Mr. Curttright joined the Christian Church in Nemaha, and at the time of his death had never transferred his membership from that church.

On March 13, 1904 Walter was united in marriage with Minnie Colerick, the ceremony being performed at Brownville. After their marriage the young couple moved to the Syracuse, Nebraska community, where he farmed.

In 1927 Mr. and Mrs. Curttright returned to Nemaha where they were to live the rest of their lives. To this marriage eleven children were born.

After returning to Nemaha, Mr. Curttright worked for the CB&Q Railroad until he retired a number of years ago. Mrs. Curttright preceeded him in death on October 12, 1948.

About a year ago Walter's health began to fail. He was in the hospital for a short time towards the end of the year, and on January 10, 1965 it was necessary for him to again enter the Nemaha County Hospital in Auburn. It was there that he passed away early Tuesday morning, February 9, 1965, having reached the age of 87 years, 2 months, and 26 days.

Besides his wife, he was preceeded in death by his parents and two brothers.
