As they traveled a little further, Harold sadly remarked,
"I'm glad Elmo is happy about his test, but that doesn't
solve our problem, Burnham" as he tripped over Addy Pumpkin
half buried in the sand. "Mercy, Addy, why are you all covered
up with sand"? asked Burnham. "Don't look at me Burnham,
I'm ugly…too ugly to be a jack-o-lantern. Look at all
the ugly bumps all over me". Her voice was muffled.
Softly Burnham said, "Addy, you're not ugly, you're unique.
There's not another pumpkin like you. Why don't you find
Fred and Wanda? Fred's so tall and not very round and
Wilma is round, but not very tall.
I think the farmer's
wife could set you in a basket with some leaves and maybe
some other vegetables and you would look very elegant decorating a holiday table".
"Do you really think so"?, she said in a much stronger voice. "I KNOW so, Addy, give it a try" replied Burnham.
