They said their good-byes to Big Punk and began trudging
back to the pumpkin patch to meet with the Great Pumpkin.
"Now we've done it" said Harold, "we've spent the whole
night and we still don't have a test. We'll never be
jack-o-lanterns. Oh, Burnham, what are we going to do"?
Two very sad pumpkins joined the throng around the Great Pumpkin.
One by one the Great Pumpkin boomed out the assignments
and all the pumpkins were happy with what they were to
do, but no one was chosen to be a jack-o-lantern.
Perhaps, this year there would be no jack-o-lanterns.
There were fewer and fewer left. Harold and Burnham
felt lower and lower, how could they get an
assignment if they hadn't even found a test to pass?
Finally the Great Pumpkin said, "Harold and Burnham
you're the last two, did you find a test worthy of becoming
jack-o-lanterns"
A dewdrop formed on Burnham's pumpkin shell that looked
suspiciously like a tear as he quietly said,
