The Story of Manifest

MANIFEST was formed in 1996 by Ray R. and Joseph G. They recruited Clayton to play bass("cause there was no one else" says Ray). With Ray on guitar/vocals, Joseph on drums, and a few months of practice. They played in front of a crowd for the first time on March 8th, 1997. MANIFEST was the first band on that night followed by THE RESISTORS, A.D.D., ABOUT FACE, D.O.R., UNRATED IGNORANCE, and THE ABANDONED it was a great night and party. I guess after this Ray decided to kick Clayton out of the band and bring in Robert(B.J.) to play bass instead. MANIFEST sound changed to a hardcore style. Their first show, with their new style and bassist, was at the D.M.Z. Clubhouse (which was run by Tony Chainsaw). They played with THE NUCLEAR FISHSTICKS, THE DECEASED, and THE CHIAPAS it was a great show. The crowd and Tony liked them so he put them on some more shows at the D.M.Z. They also played a few shows at the White Rabbit a few times.

Ray liked the new sound but wasn't satisfied with what he heard and wanted to go in a new direction with the band. This and the fact that he and Joseph G. had a dispute led to Joseph's leaving of the band. This was around October 97.(i think) Ray and B.J. tried out a few drummers but they didn't like their style. Then they asked me if i wanted to drum for them. I said I'd give it a shot since things with the band i was in(UNRATED) were not going so well. I tried out and they liked the way i played and thus MANIFEST started all over again. With new songs, a new style, and a month of practice. We played a show (the line up now being Ray on vocals/guitar, B.J. on bass/vocals, and me on drums) it was great except for the fact that i was sick. We played with THE CHIAPAS, THE FLATLINERS, and RETURN. We played a couple of more shows at the D.M.Z., the White Rabbit, Taco Land, a couple of benifit shows, and even a few talent shows anything to be heard. Things seemed to be going very well until January 28th, 1998 when the D.M.Z. waa shutdown by the housing department. We were supposed to play with THE SHOCKABSORBERS and THE DUCKY BOYS. It was a anag in the S.A. scene. The D.M.Z. was more than a place where underground bands would play it was a place you could hangout at with friends. Tony Chainsaw held a few more shows at the Cameo and moved some to Tacoland and the White Rabbit. With the closing fo the D.M.Z. clubhouse there were only a few other places to play at. White Rabbit, Tacoland, and then Wacky's Deli whick didn't open until late '98 or early '99. Then Ray decided to bring in another guitarist in early '99. The band going from a 3 piece ot 4. It took a while before we found a guitarist, but we found one his name was Joseph(no relation). We played a few more shows. Not knowing at the time but September 25th 1999 was our last show.

We had a few more practices, but with everyone doing thier own things: Joseph getting engaged, Ray going to the Army, B.J. with school and work, me as well. MANIFEST fell apart in December 1999. The band didn't officially end until January 2000 when Ray left ror bootcamp. It was fucking fun and i regret nothing. WHAT WILL BECOME OF MANIFEST? WHO KNOWS?
