Artist's Statement...My 70's Alsphabet Quilt contains lots of fabrics from my uglies-and-rejects drawer. Textile historians will be amazed and envious at the number of project-appropriate authentic 70's specimens; some are even earlier. Some even contain - gasp! - polyester. For typophiles, the E is Palatino Bold. Thank you, Kathleen Loomis

F is for Flip and Halter
by Renee Hills ©1999
Artist's Statement: Remember that simplistic natural blown dry Flip Hair Do? And the Halter Dress? I remember wearing my flip and halter and my family flipping out and halting me at the door!!!! Guess they didn't like silver lame' at the family Christmas gathering.

Harvesting Gold
by Helen Fox ©2000
Artist's Statement: The 70's were the years that I fell in love, married, gave birth to two sons and began my career - truly a harvest of gold. My oldest son was born on the eve of the Yom Kipper War in 1973 and I brought my second son home from the hospital the day the peace treaty with Egypt was approved by the Knesset in 1978. In Israel the events of the 70's may have been different, but the colors were the same. This piece measures 19"x22". Machine pieced and quilted. Helen Fox.
