Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. was founded 9 January 1914 by three Howard University students;The Most Honorable and Noble A. Langston Taylor(m), Charles I. Brown(l), and Leonard F. Morse(r).

The Blue and White Legacy

The Alpha Chapter of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity at Howard University in Washington, D.C. was chartered by the three Founders, their close associates and friends. The incorporation of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity took place in Washington, D.C., and from that day forth this newly formed fraternity became known as Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc.,"the people's fraternity". Over 80 years later, Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. has emerged as an international organization of leaders with over 100,000 members nad over 700 chapters in the United States, West Africa Europe, and the Caribbean.

Dedicated to providing services to not only members of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. but to all of humanity and to allow for growth and progress throughout, Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. has established and run a variety of foundations, organizations and institutions which follows the ideals and principles upon which this great fraternity was founded: brotherhood, scholarship, and service. Being the leaders of all the Afro- American fraternities, Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. sets the examples for all others to follow through the implementing of its three National Programs;Bigger and Better Business, Education, and Social Actions.

Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. is also a member in the black fraternity and sorority cooperation known as the National Panhellic Council. Its members include: Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc.; Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc.; Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity; Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority; Delta Sigma Theta Sorority; Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity; Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority; Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, and Iota Phi Theta.
