THE EASIEST WAY TO CLEAN YOUR PIERCING IS EITHER DURING OR IMMEDIATELY FOLLOWING A HOT SHOWER. THE AREA SHOULD BE CLEANED ONCE OR TWICE A DAY. OVERCLEANING IS AS BAD OR WORSE THAN UNDERCLEANING, AS IT SLOWS THE BODY'S NATURAL HEALING ABILITIES.

CLEAN YOUR HANDS THOROUGHLY WITH AN UNSCENTED ANTIBACTERIAL OR ANTIMICROBIAL SOAP. NEXT, GENTLY REMOVE THE CRUST FROM YOUR JEWELRY WITH A WET COTTON SWAB OR Q-TIP.( DO NOT USE A HAND TOWEL BECAUSE BACTERIA CAN LIE DORMANT IN THE CLOTH.) USING THE ANTIBACTERIAL SOAP, LATHER YOUR HANDS AND USING YOUR FINGERTIPS, GENTLY WASH THE AREA AROUND THE JEWELRY AND THE EXPOSED JEWELRY. NEXT, GENTLY RINSE WHILE ROTATING THE JEWELRY (DO NOT ROTATE JEWELRY FOR FIRST 2 DAYS). PAT DRY USING A TISSUE OR PAPER TOWEL.

A SEA SALT SOAK WILL HELP WITH HEALING. THIS CAN BE USED UP TO 4 TIMES A DAY. TO MAKE SOLUTION MIX 1/8 TSP UNIODIZED SEA SALT WITH 1 CUP(8 OZ.) WARM WATER. USING EITHER A SMALL DISPOSABLE CUP OR COTTON BALLS, SOAK PIERCING FOR 10 TO 15 MINUTES. MIXING THE SOLUTION STRONGER WILL NOT INCREASE HEALING TIME, IN FACT IT WILL OVERDRY THE AREA AND IMPEDE THE HEALING PROCESS.

*DO NOT USE PETROLEUM BASED OINTMENTS ( NEOSPORIN,BACITRACIN), PEROXIDE, ALCOHOL, IODINE, bETADINE.) THESE CAN PROLONG THE HEALING PROCESS.

*NEVER TOUCH PIERCING WITHOUT WASHING YOUR HANDS.

*CHECK YOUR JEWELRY DAILY TO MAKE SURE IT IS SECURE. (i.e. BALLS, BEADS, GEMS, ETC.)

*REMEMBER TIGHTEN ALL THREADED ACCESSORIES TO THE RIGHT.

*JEWELRY SHOULD REMAIN IN PLACE DURING HEALING, IT ACTS AS A DRAIN.

*ALWAYS WEAR LOOSE, CLEAN CLOTHING AROUND YOUR NEW PIERCING.

*DO NOT EXPOSE NEW PIERCING TO ANY BODY FLUIDS. (SALIVA, ETC.)

*DO NOT EXPOSE NEW PIERCING TO ANY COSMETICS (LOTIONS, ETC)

*EAT WELL BALANCED MEALS, DRINK PLENTY OF FLUIDS, AND GET PLENTY OF SLEEP DURING HEALING.

*TRY NOT TO LAY DIRECTLY ON PIERCING.

*DO NOT LEAVE JEWELRY OUT OF A NEW PIERCING, IT MAY CLOSE WITHIN A MATTER OF HOURS. IF YOU MUST REMOVE JEWELRY, SEE YOUR PIERCER TO HAVE THEM REPLACE IT WITH A RETAINER.

*REMEMBER THAT A PIERCING IS A WOUND AND YOU SHOULD EXPECT TENDERNESS, SWELLING, DISCOLORATION, AND POSSIBLE BRUISING.

*YOUR PIERCING MAY OOZE A WHITE/LIGHT YELLOW FLUID. THIS IS A NORMAL PART OF THE HEALING PROCESS. THE FLUID CONTAINS DEAD BLOOD CELLS AND DEAD PLASMA, WHICH ARE USED BY THE BODY TO HELP HEAL.

*AVOID SWIMMING, HOT TUBS, BATHS, OR ANYTHING THAT ALLOWS PIERCING TO SOAK IN WATER FOR LONG PERIODS.

*DO NOT ENGAGE IN ROUGH CONTACT ACTIVITIES THAT MAY HARM PIERCING.

*IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS, CONTACT YOUR PIERCER.
