"BY THE LAKE"
(C. DeCracken)

[acoustic guitars and percussion; sung]
Unsuspecting humans
perceiving kind nature
cool debris winds blown in face
but the woods speak now of rot

[metal instrumentation]
Blood fills the waters
unknown blood fills the waters
unkonwn blood has leaked in
they have leaked in
possession is now the lake
...the unspoken
...the beyond

[acoustic guitars and percussion; sung]
Go for a hike
play some songs
feel the wind beneath your feet
rest by the cabin

We never question
we never suspect
just observe chalked rocks
only savor the damp wind
and enjoy the silver sky

The birds cry for their young

[metal instrumentation]
Is the lake alive?
is the lake alive?
the lake is alive!
the lake is alive!

Robed figures surround the lake
to confront the bode of debauchery
The innocent lodgers wander in
who weren't meant to see this exorcism

Its tentacles howl
for the sky to fall
Serpentine arms casting wicked ritual
movements one can't forget

Why did this happen?

The titanic mass towers beyond measure
into a terrible elliptical cliff
feel a fall into its black shadow

The swirling parts
draw your gaze inward
so controlling
but so hateful

[piano and percussion; spoken]
I saw into
its refracting layers
and crystalline waters
Macabre expressions
inside crystalline mirrors
of its diamond core
...inside out

[metal instrumentation]
The rocky boarder
is no longer safe
as its base grinds, thicker
I fall back
hide my face for hours
flying coagulants cling to my skin

[acoustic guitars and percussion; sung]
Somehow, I don't know
it was defeated
but I beg that you suffer
and cry that you are punished for what you are
grief is so strong
with my tears I curse you

[metal instrumentation]
May the wings of Quetzalcoatl destroy you (2x)

[acoustic guitars and percussion; sung]
May the wings of Quetzalcoatl destroy you (2x)

*The acoustical parts were used in the nature video "Mother Nature's Natural Wonders."
