HISTORY OF THE

The Dark Horizon was a brand new Nebulon-B frigate commissioned right after the battle of Endor. It was constructed similar to the Event Horizon, its sister ship, with the same "all purpose" mission in mind. It needed a crew at the time, and Commander Stryker, after assuming command of the Liberator (a Star Destroyer captured by his team during Endor), helped his former members of Special Ops. Team 1 gain the command positions aboard. After all that SOT1 had been through, they deserved a higher position.

The mission of the Dark Horizon was to operate independently from the New Republic fleet as a privateering vessel. Through its compliment of 20 starfighters, including 12 X-wings and 8 Y-wings, and its platoon of Death's Head Space Marines, composed of four squads of ten, the ship was to disrupt enemy supply lines, seize enemy cargo, and capture enemy vessels. This, of course, was not limited to the Empire only. After just one year, however, the emergence of the Dark Empire in the sector in which the Dark Horizon was currently operating forced the ship to call for reinforcements. The first on the scene was none other than Rear Admiral Latham Stryker himself, with the Liberator and its support vessels.

The Admiral then reassigned the Dark Horizon to his fleet, designated as the New Republic #5 fleet. With its privateering status stripped away, the Dark Horizon was now under the Admiral's command out of sheer necessity. Not long after its reassignment, through some tight dealing by its command staff, the Dark Horizon was fitted with a massive ion cannon similar to the one used to defend Hoth, (identical to the one aboard the Event Horizon), though somewhat smaller in size. During the conflict, the Dark Horizon was given many extremely tough missions that tested the courage and strength of the entire crew and the ship itself. Many of these missions hinged on the forward-mounted ion cannon and left the ship crippled and desperately in need of repair. After the final battle that shattered the Dark Empire with the destruction of the Subjegator, the Dark Horizon was repaired and its fate currently lies undecided.
