The Elven Balance Syndicate (EBS) is an elven group of druid-scientists who seek to find a "perfect balance" between nature and science. This leads them to conduct experiments in the vein of the elves' famed bio-organic space stations. EBS' drive to find this balance led them to develop the Chrysalis Project, a highly experimental (and highly dangerous) project which would utilize bio-organic technology with magic similar to that used to create soulmechs. The result of this project was to be a living starship, which would be sentient, have a soul, and be capable of reproduction.

Unfortunately, the Chrysalis Project fell under the gaze of the newly-enstated drow police organizations. When the drow learned of this project, they realized the military implications and took over the project by force. The EBS scientists were allowed to complete the project under drow supervision, but as the project neared completion, Chrysalis was stolen by a Resistance thief, and the station which had housed the project, Risengar, was destroyed in a terrorist attack, taking most of EBS' top scientists with it.

EBS is now at an impass, as most of its scientists are either dead or on the run. The group has unofficially disbanded, and most of the scientists have been abandoned by the group to fend for themselves.
