NAME: The Dark Paladin
TYPE: Dark Paladin (Wraith)
PLACE IN THE QUEST:
Little is known about this powerful creature of darkness. He appeared to be of the same nature as the Nine who served Sauron in the Third Age, and carried Morgul Arrows, just as the Witch King wielded a Morgul Dagger to stab Frodo at Weathertop. His origin, however, is unknown. It is possible he was a servant of the great and powerful Gorgoroth, acting to recover the lost Gift of the Valar, and destroy the Heroes on their quest. In this second endeavor, he nearly succeeded, turning the elf Curufin into a wraith, just as himself. He was finally defeated by Aspien's dagger during the Third Segment of the Campaign on top of Mount Gorgoroth in the Mountains of Shadow.
