PLACE IN THE QUEST:
Taren was the Dunedain leader of the Hillmen inhabiting Cameth Brin. Though he did not portray the clean-cut impression of a typical Dunedain, and his loyalty to the Crown of the Reunited Kingdom was questionable, he nevertheless proved an ally and friend of the Heroes, allowing them refuge in his city. The deal turned out to be a good one, for the Heroes then saved the city from attack by an Orcish army--the first to arise during the Fourth Age.
