BACKGROUND: Kaite was born on an outlands planet, Mercyra, where she grew up in a medieval society, completely oblivious to the technological wonders which lay in the galaxy outside her world. When she was a young girl, Mercyra was contacted by the Empire, but the planet retained its medieval culture and traditions, despite knowing of the technological and cultural advances of the Dragon Empire. Eventually, though, the Empire found its way onto Mercyra, and a small starport was built amidst the feudal villages on the planet. There, Kaite met members of the Resistance, where she joined and was sent out into the galaxy. She met Alarca Min'eer, a half-elven bard who stuck to the old traditions, despite being from an Imperial world, and the two forged a strong friendship. Eventually, they were assigned to travel with the crew of the Storm Eagle, and eventualy became part of the crew themselves.
