I just laid there thinking about last night. I was wrapped safely in Nick's arms and it felt right. There was nothing I wanted more than this. I could feel Nick's breath on me as he slept. He made these cute little whimper sounds as he breathed…it was so sweet. I just laid there taking in the moment.
I rolled over carefully, hoping not to wake him. I just laid there for a moment and then whispered to him…
"Nick, can I keep you?" copying my favorite line from Casper. I couldn't resist…I just had to ask.
Just as I expected, he let out a cute little sigh and groggily said, "Yeah, sure…" and fell back asleep. At least that is what he made me believe.
I just laid there thinking to myself about how perfect this was…and then something took my breath away. I never realized he was awake. He just rolled over to me and looked into my eyes and said,
"But, you have to marry me so that you can keep me." he said bluntly. Then he just smiled, rolled over and went back to sleep.
I was totally stunned by this and jumped out of bed. Was he kidding?? My heart started racing and I could feel myself become faint. The blood rushed from my head and the next thing I knew…I was tumbling to the floor.

"Heather? Heather…are you okay? Wake up sweetie, come on." he said as he looked down at me lying on the floor. He leaned down, gave me the sweetest kiss and then helped pull me up to my feet. I just stood there staring into his eyes…searching for the truth. "What? Now, didn't your mom tell you it was not nice to stare?" he asked.
I just kept staring…"Did you mean that?"
He looked at me puzzled, then smiled. "Yes, I meant it. Why would I have said it if I didn't mean it?" he said as his cheeks turned red. "Well, and what do you say?" he said as he hid his face, afraid to hear my answer.
"Well, my kind sir, if you are going to ask me to marry you, then you better damn well do it properly." I stated as I looked deep into his blue eyes. His eyes were the key to his soul, and I could tell what his next move would be just from the look in his eyes.
"Okay, just give me a minute." Nick said as he walked away, down the hallway to a smaller room. He spent what seemed like an eternity in there. You could hear things crashing to the floor, drawers being opened and closed, books falling off the shelves, and cabinet doors being slammed. Finally, all I could hear was a whisper, "Thank God I found it, my mom would have killed me."
I stood there in our room totally confused and concerned by all the racket at the end of the hallway. Nick then walked back in the room and did what any fool in love would have done. He got down on one knee and sang these words to me…
"You answer questions, before I even ask, I know when to let you cry,
and when to make you laugh, Sometimes you say the most, when no words have
been said, you even sing the songs that I hear playing in my head.
All that I need is all that I have, you're my lover, my other half."
Tears started to form in his eyes, and he then finished by saying,
"Heather, I love with all my heart, my soul, and my body. Would
you do me the honor of being my wife?"
I was totally shocked. He knew the words to my favorite song, he knew exactly what I was thinking and his words touched my heart. Joyous tears filled my eyes as I looked down at him. "Yes." was all I could whisper to him as he pulled me closer for a very passionate kiss. He then placed a white gold ring with a heart shaped diamond on my finger. "This was my great grandma's and my mom told me to give it to the woman I love." Then he kissed me again.
We held our embrace for minutes, as time seemed to stand still. It was all like a fairytale to me. He was my prince, and he was here to sweep me off my feet and make all my dreams come true.
"Nick, remember when you asked me if I had ever had a feeling when I looked into your eyes?" I asked.
"Umm, yes." was all he could say. He wasn't sure where the conversation was about to go.
"Well, remember when I told you that I had that feeling twice? I have to be honest with you. I had only had that feeling one time in my life…and it was when I looked into your eyes as I woke up in the hospital and saw you sitting there beside me. That was the first time in my life that I knew I was truly happy and that I had found my perfect someone." I told him, the words from the bottom of my heart.
Nick was confused…"But didn't you say that you had that feeling with your fiancee?" He was so afraid of me doing what I had done before, and I could see it in his eyes.
"Nick, I said that, because I was so confused and things were making me crazy. I was so worried about all the terrible things in my life, and I thought if I believed that I truly loved him, then I could punish myself even more. Does any of this make any sense? I knew from the minute I saw you, that this was perfect." I finshed with tears streaming down my face.
Nick wiped the tears from my eyes with his soft and gentle hands. I felt so happy that he was here with me and I wanted nothing more than to stay like this. "Heather, I love you with all my heart, my soul, my mind and body. I will never let go of you and there is nothing in this world that will keep me from you. You are my harmony and this love we share is so perfect."
We just looked into each others eyes and then our lips met in a passionate kiss that seemed to last forever. We held our embrace as time seemed to stand still. This was a perfect love.
"Now, Heather Lynne, you go and get ready. We have a very busy day ahead of us. Come on…" he said as he started pushing me towards the bathroom.
"Nickolas Gene, don't you dare start giving me orders." I said as I tried to hold in my giggles. "All you have to say is 'Please'. Okay?" I said sternly.
Nick fell to his hands and knees and crawled to my feet like a lost puppy, looked up at me, and said, "Please, oh pretty please?" He knew that if he gave me those puppy dog eyes, I would fall for it.
"Oh, okay…." I said as I started towards the bathroom. As I closed the door, I heard Nick yell, "YES!!! She said yes!!!" All I could do was giggle.
Nick immediately picked up the phone and called his best friend. "Hey, Brian, I need you to call the guys and tell them to meet me at your house in about an hour. We need to talk."
"Nick, is everything okay? Did you find Heather? Did things work out?" Brian asked Nick impatiently.
"Brian, I don't have time to talk about it right now, just do as I say and tell the guys to meet me. It is very important." Nick concluded and hung up.
Nick then went to get ready.
