Chapter 2
"Do you know anything about the girl that was brought into the emergency room? The one who almost drowned at the beach?? the stranger asked.
"Are you of any relation to this young lady?" the nurse asked sternly.
"No ma'am. I was the one who pulled her outta the water. I just wanted to make sure she was alright. Can't I please just see her? Please?" pleaded the young man.
"It is against hospital policy. If you are not related to her…I cannot let you see her." the nurse insisted.
"Well, then I will just have to leave. I am sorry for bothering you. Thank you for taking care of her. And, could you just tell her I was here?" asked the young man.
**later that afternoon…after the shift change**
"Nurse? May I see the young lady in Room 324 please?" the young man asked.
"Are you of some relationship to her?" the new nurse asked, as the young man looked on with a grin.
"Well, as a matter of fact…yes. I am her…her brother. I had just arrived in town and was going to surprise her…she didn't know I was coming. But her neighbor saw me sitting outside of her house…and told me to come here." lied the insistant young man.
The nurse just looked at him with suspicion, but then let him in.
The tall, blonde haired, muscular young man had slowly come around the corner to her room. He gazed at her as she slept. The nurse went to go and wake her…but the young man stopped her.
"Please don't wake her…I don't mind waiting. Let her rest. I will just sit here until she wakes up, if that is okay?"
"That is fine. Her meal will be brought to her shortly, would you like us to bring you something too?" asked the attendant.
"No, no thank you. I am fine, but I truly appreciate the offer." whispered the kind young man.
After sitting patiently for over an hour…the young man looked over to see a pair of beautiful grey eyes gazing at him. He was in a trance. I tried to sit up…only to feel very weak. As I struggled to sit up, the kind stranger rushed to my side.
"Thank God you are okay! I have been so worried about you. You are one lucky girl. Didn't you see the signs? I mean, there were undertoe warnings…yet you still went into the water…" the young man blurted out.
"Who are you? And what are you doing here" I asked. Suddenly, I remembered…."You are the one…your eyes. I remember them." I said as my voice trailed off.
"What do you mean?"
"I remember looking into your eyes for just a split second when I first awoke. You were the one who saved me…you were the one who pulled me outta the water." I tried to say as tears welled up in my eyes.
He looked straight into my eyes and gently replied, "Yes, I am the one."
I gazed into his eyes…as time seemed to stand still.
