Chapter 73
“Oh Nickolas, this is amazing! Thank you so much.” I said with a hug. He had given me one of the most beautiful gifts I had ever seen.
“I had it made and commissioned during vacation. Trying to hide it from you was very hard. After we had our wedding portraits done, I asked a friend of my father to take the portrait and make a painting from it. I really hope you like it.” Nick said sweetly.
“It is beautiful. Thank you so much. It is something I will treasure forever. I love you.” I replied with a passionate kiss.
I was truly touched by Nick’s gift for me. It was something that I would always hold dear to me. I then gave him his gift, hoping he would treasure it the same.
“Nick, this is for you. I wrote it, but I fear that my talents don’t live up to yours. But I mean every word I say in it.” I said as I handed the wrapped frame. Nick looked at the package curiously and then opened it ever so slowly.
As he read it, his eyes started to sparkle and then a few tears appeared. I could see happiness in his eyes as he read.
For the harmony you bring to my life
I give you my love.
For the understanding of my needs
The many smiles you have brought me
I give you my love.
For the joy you bring to my heart
And the many ways you make me
Feel with every embrace.
I give you my love.
For the comfort you bring me
And the many treasured times
We have shared.
I give you my love.
For the way you are my friend
As well as the many ways
You express our love.
I give you my love.
For the many ways that you’ve
Allowed me to be part of your life.
I give you my love.

Once he finished, I could see the tears welling up in his eyes. He looked at me, wrapped his arms around me, and then hugged me tightly. He just let the tears flow as he whispered to me. I was so touched that the poem hit him like that. I never thought that he would like it so much.
“Heather, you have no idea how special that was for me. Thank you so much. I love you baby.” Nick said as he wiped the tears off his face.
Nick and I then spent the rest of our Valentine’s breakfast giggling and laughing about the show. Tonight would be a big night for us. The guys had to perform, and well, being a special day, they had a few surprises up their sleeves. As Leighanne and I were escorted to our seats like before, Leighanne was showing me the lovely ring that was on her finger.
“Oh Leighanne, that is beautiful. So Brian actually asked you??? I never thought he would get around to it. That boy never ceases to amaze me. Now all we need is to get Dee married, but with the way the two of them have been lately, I don’t know if it will ever happen.” I said.
“Well, there is always room for a miracle Heather. I mean, if Brian could get off his butt and finally ask me, then it could happen for Kevin. No, wait, if Nick Carter of the Backstreet Boys could get married...then there is hope for Kevin!” Leighanne joked.
She and I couldn’t help but laugh. I mean, Nick was the last one of the Boys that was thought to ever get married...and now, he was the first one. It was a strange feeling. But, it happened, and miracles do happen. As we approached the VIP section, we saw another person sitting in the box. After a few second, I screamed out,
“Dee!!! What are you going here??!”
“Hiya Heather and Leighanne, how has your Valentine’s been?” Dee asked nonchalantly.
“Umm, it has been beautiful. Nick gave me a portrait that was made from our wedding pictures. What did you get?” I asked with a wink.
All Dee did was hold up her hand and the sparkle almost blinded Leighanne and I. “My God Dee! Is that what I think it is?” Leighanne asked, excited.
“Do miracles really happen?” I asked as I looked at the ring. It was huge...a one carat diamond with a sapphire and emerald on each side. It was so beautiful.
“Yes, can you believe that miracles do happen?” Dee replied with a smile.
“Congratulations!!!” Leighanne and I both cheered. The three of us soon were found jumping up and down with excitement in our front row area. The fans were starting to trickle in and saw us. We had to quickly calm down to keep them from being suspicious. The news was something we didn’t want to be out in the open just yet.
We watched the concert as the Boys strutted their stuff and sang their hearts out. Kevin and Brian had this sort of gleam in their eyes...and really put on a great show. However, no one knew what made them in such a great mood. AJ and Howie had a great time, as always. Nick, he paraded around, looking like a proud father to be. He would wink at the little girls, and blow them kisses. It was something he would probably want to do when his child was born, and it was obvious up on that stage.
We enjoyed a whole night of excitement and fun, all for our own reasons.
We knew that everyone was taking a new path in life, but knew that we were
all a very tight knit family and we would never let go of that.
