Alto, Texas is the Home of Shiloh Ridge. It is basically a big mud pit with a few hill climbs. There are some cool locals there with some ridiculous vehicles. The rednecks that run the place are pretty nice and like to watch when people "get a running start, cause that tow strap will stretch." It was my first official outing with TAMOR, I rode shotgun in my friend Brandon's Binder, cause mine was having technical difficulties.(no front driveshaft, tight brake lines...) It performed exceptionally well despite what you will see in the following pictures. You don't take pictures when things are going well on mudding adventures, just when stuff gets stuck.
This is a pic of the whole TAMOR group that went to Alto.
I believe this was the first stuck of the day, it wouldn't be his last either. He enjoyed turning donuts in his 2WD, and flingin' mud at nearby sout owners that were lunching. Doug's hoss Blazer can be seen here helping his fellow Aggie.
This is Brandon's Scout and the first of three times in the day that he got stuck. Not too bad for a worn out trac-lock and stock springs. The headers/flowmaster/turn down make for a nice quiet highway drive.
Scott's new 37's and a pic of him pulling out Austin in his F*rd. Austin pulled a few people out that day as well....
Believe it or not, Brandon made it through this exact whole in his binder. Then we had to come back around to pull out Austin out of the predicament that you see above. Austin tried again but to no avail. So after the second rear wheel in the air experience, our wise elder Brandon went to show us how big his manhood was.
On the approach...
SPLASHDOWN!
Buried pretty good.
Hooking it up to get pulled out by the arse, by a F*rd no less. This is when the redneck came by and told us to "get at running start at it"...
Was a great looking school bus motor, now full of water.
If you look closely you can see oreos floating around from lunch. They soaked long enough that by the next day, it was nothing but cream filling in the floor.
Look at all the mud on that dash...This is from the rocking motion when Austin "got a run at it" Note that the Snook kolaches are still safe in the glove box hole. mmmmm...Kolaches and Lone Star... I wish I had gotten a pic of the immense amount of crap (receipts, cd's, habachi grill...) that was in the scout when it went for a swim. I asked Brandon beforehand if we were going to take any of it out before we went 'froading, and his reply was, "That's why I drive a Scout, plenty of room for everything...)
The resultant filth the following day, notice the cool waterline. Brandon not only got water in a few pistons, the new flex-fan acted as a propeller in water. He crimped off the offending lines in the radiator and two bottles of stop leak got us all the way back to College Station. The good ol' boys at Bryan Radiator soldered the holes for 25 bones, not too shabby.
