A cute cotton dress with separate pinafore that can be worn with other dresses. Lace trimmed. Kits include matching shoes.
This has always been one of my favorite outfits. I must have given away the organdy pinafore, though. I could only find the white dotted swiss one.

Completed costume made of Terry Cloth with contrasting trimming. Sunglasses - 25 cents.
When I was making this, I couldn't find any terry cloth that "felt" like the old fabric, so I used really, really cheap 100% cotton washcloths from the old Woolworth's Store before it closed years ago. The orange bias binding is old. I think it had a price of 10 cents on it. The sunglasses were purchased at Katz Drug Store in the fifties. I thought she needed a beach towel, so I made her a matching one.

Cotton halter and shorts in matching cotton.Available both as a kit and a pattern.
This little halter is really odd looking off the doll. It just looks like a piece of looped fabric similar to the looped red, white, and blue ribbons seen now. I added the pic of the doll standing so you could see what it looks like. Both shorts and halter close in the back with a snap.

A CHILD'S SEWING KIT
First in a Series of Patterns Designed by MARY HOYER
This educational kit, first in a series designed by Mary Hoyer, contains everything to make the SUN BONNET SUE OUTFIT, including illustrations and instructions - so simple your child can make it! Here is her first lesson in sewing - learning to do something for herself - something worthwhile. It's economical, too!
I have made several of these, and I don't think they are THAT easy....

I remember getting this outfit for Christmas. It has always been a favorite of mine. I don't remember if I had the child's purse or not, but I do remember having a purse that had the neat slotted coin holder.

______________________________________________________________________________________________
The following two outfits were made using the patterns in Storybook and Heavenly Doll Costumes by Mary Hoyer, published in 1988. In this soft cover book are the Fairy Tales patterns, the patterns for the planets - Miss Mercury, Miss Earth etc, nightie, jammies, slips, panties, stockings, shoes, and mules. It is a nice addition to the original book.Nothing is duplicated. I don't know if it is still in print.
