I know this page needs a lot of work but be patient. if you have any questions about birding in East Texas email me. If any technical mistakes about birdwatching drive you crazy and you just can't rest until you bust me that is ok too. Along the upper Texas coast a few acres of live oak trees are the first chance many migratory birds get to rest after a non-stop flight from their winter nesting grounds. Catch the weary travelers after fighting a north wind for 600 miles and watch you don't step on birds on the ground as you gaze in the trees. birwatching can truly be a family affair.Thispicture was taken of my son joshua at age 4 already a veteran birder this next link will take you to a few of his photos "taken all by himself" If you frequent the high Island birding sites say hello but never let him catch you smoking in the woods, one poor soul got quite a lecture of smoking in general and in the woods in particular.
click on Joshua to see some of his handy work with a camera that is almost as big as he is!
Large alligators are also frequent sights.
