This poem was written for my second AID (All Iolaus Day) on the IML. The theme was 'Love Conquers All'.

The child was sick and fidgety
The medicine tasted poor
The healer tried to persuade the girl
But was only getting sore

The blond man in the purple garb
Could empathize with each one
He understood the healers need
But illness still wasn't much fun

He offered up his assistance
In any fashion that he could
The healer suggested a story
Might help the child be good

The Golden Hunter pulled up a chair
And a tale he began to weave
About two boys who grew up together
One honest, one quite set to deceive

One was a demigod
The son of mortal and Zeus
The other was a thieving boy
Who was always on the loose

He told about their wanderings
The monsters they did slay
The evil Gods they battled
Every step along the way

He told of the times they fought back to back
They lived through heartbreak and tears
The laughter they shared at a private joke
Their triumphs and their fears

They loved each others like brothers should
And had often wished it true
Because through sickness and utter pain
They pulled each other through

His friend would never let him down
And if medicine was what he needed
His friend would force it down his throat
To spite the sputterings gone unheeded

"You are a better patient than me
And braver than any in town
Because although the medicine is icky
You're gonna drink it down"

The sick girl smiled and took the cup
Holding her nose to the smell
She made a face at the bitter taste
But knew it would make her well

Iolaus hugged her with a tight squeeze
And was about to leave her side
When his friend and brother approached at once
With a smile he couldn't hide

They walked out of the room together
As they've been often seen to do
"You know, Iolaus we've been through a lot
And I feel the same way about you"
