What's an old fashioned Christmas?

Holiday cheer, a welcome wreath on the door, candles burning bright... outdoor colored lights, garland covered bright city Street lights, holiday’s greetings to each person we would meet. A toy train circled under the Christmas tree and more... etc ...sleigh wagon rides ... making snow angels and frosty the snowman, singing jingle bells, Christmas caroling... Family gatherings... stringing popcorn and decorating the Christmas tree with lights and ornaments. Uncles and aunts... friends... Kids.... cousins, sisters and brothers, granny and grandpa ... mom and dad... families sharing Christmas dinner... there was eggnog, black-eye peas, corn, mashed potatoes and gravy, turkey and hams, sweet potatoes, cranberries, mince meat pie,cherry and apple pie, Jell-O molds, fruit baskets, fruitcake, and hard candy ... Christmas joy and laughter ... with an excitement in the air. Gifts under the tree for all, even the family puppy dog found a special treat in the stocking Christmas Day... maybe not many were given extravagant gifts - but, these wonders were always treasured... Santa had visited that night leaving gifts of toys, a wagon, dollhouse, shiny tricycle ...bicycle ... and St. Nick would always leave a money envelope nestled on the tree branch ! Yuletide carols being sung by a choir
And folks dressed up like Eskimos

Everybody knows a turkey and some mistletoe
Help to make the season bright
Tiny tots with their eyes all aglow
Will find it hard to sleep tonight

They know that Santa's on his way
He's loaded lots of toys and goodies on his sleigh
And every mother's child is gonna spy
To see if reindeer really know how to fly

And so I'm offering this simple phrase
For kids from one to ninety two
Although its been said many times many ways
Merry Christmas to you
