Gauge is unimportant, as any size hook & yarn can be used. This is an incredibly forgiving pattern, it's OK if you occasionally lose track of your rows & stick one or two extra in the body.
Note that the sc decl. here is the same as described in the snail pattern. Note also that you should always end your row with 4 sc in the body of the snake.
Materials used: G hook & sport weight yarn
Directions:
Ch 2.
Row 1: Sc 4 times in 2nd loop from hook.
Row 2: Sc twice in first st. Sc once in next st. Sc decl over final 2 sts.
Row 3: Sc decl. over first two sts. Sc in next st. Sc twice in final st.
Row 4: Repeat row 2.
Row 5 & 6: Repeat row 3.
Row 7: Repeat row 2.
Row 8: Repeat row 3.
Rows 9 & 10: Repeat row 2.
Row 11: Repeat row 3.
Row 12: Repeat row 2.
Rows 13 & 14: Repeat row 3.
Row 15: Repeat row 2.
Row 16: Repeat row 3.
Rows 17 & 18: Repeat row 2.
Row 20: Repeat row 3.
Row 21: Repeat row 2.
Rows 22, 23, & 24: Ch 1, turn. Sc twice in first st. Sc in each st across to last st. Sc twice in last st. 10 sc at end of row 24
Rows 25 & 25: Ch 1, turn. Sc in each st. 10 sc
Rows 26, 27, & 28: Sc decl. across first two sts. Sc in each st across to final two sts. Sc decl. across final two sts. 4 sc at end of row 28
Row 29: Sc decl. across first two sts. Sc decl. across final two sts. 2 sc
Row 30: Sc in both sts. Finish off & weave in ends.
