"Sweetheart? Sweetheart, are you ok??"
"I know that voice..." Sweetheart feels a gentle touch brush across her forehead and down her cheek. She opens her eyes slowly, everything's a blur. As her vision clears she looks up into the two most concerned eyes she'd ever seen. "Teddy?" Her smile fades slightly. "Where am I? What happened?"
Teddy gently helps her up off the floor. "You fainted."
"I what?" Sweetheart's startled by the outburst of cheers from the crowd. It was just like at a football game. A player is down and a hush falls over the crowd. As soon as they're back on their feet the crowd cheers, and the band plays on. She finally remembers where she is as the next couple rushes past her and she's led out of the rink into the first aid station. The pairs competition, did they actually do it?
"Did we skate? No, I feel fine. How'd we do? Please don't make such a fuss. I'm okay, really." She turns her attention back to Teddy, who looks twice as worried as everyone else. She smiles, amused by his over-reaction. "I'm fine Teddy, I promise."
A very determined group forces their way into the room. "Sweetheart what happened? Are you okay?" Sweetheart was getting aggitated at everyone asking her that.
"I'm fine, what's the big deal?" That came out a little harsher than she had intended. "I'm sorry guys. Hey wait, what are you all doing here anyways?" How'd they know she and Teddy were here? It was their secret.
"Hey, it's a free country. We all just came to watch the skating competition."
"Yeah, so you can imagine our surprise when we see you and Teddy skate out on the ice!" They all laughed.
"Totally unexpected!"
"Totally!!"
Sweetheart laughed too, turning a light shade of red. She never thought someone she knew would be there, let alone nearly ALL of her friends!
"Okay, okay that's enough. Get out!" Teddy demanded. This only made the friends giggle harder at the couple's embarassment as they walked out. Everyone else left too as Sweetheart seemed to be fine, and they were finally alone.
"Gosh, I guess that means our secret's out, huh?" Sweetheart giggled. But Teddy still looked a little worried. "What? People pass out all the time, it was probably just from all the spinning or something. Everything's okay." She leaned over and kissed him on the cheek, then hopped off the table to get her stuff so they could leave.
"Yeah well, I'm taking you to see a doctor anyways. And don't ever do that to me again!!"
Sweetheart smiled back at him. "I promise. So, how DID we do?"
"God, I dunno! I was kinda *busy* when they were posting the scores." They both laughed.
"I guess it really doesn't matter. We finally went through with it, that's the important thing right?" They both agreed and left the building, walking through the deserted parking lot to Teddy's car. Sweetheart convinced him that a visit to the doctor that night was unnecessary, promising to make an appointment first thing the next day.
