"I'm fine. Why don't they just let us move in here with her?"
Despite the clear worry on her face, Cherry smiles at his obsessive behavior. He hasn't put that baby down all day, either. "Because you need to take it easy, and pining away in here all day isn't going to help. Now, you better get back to your room before they run you out of here again. I'll come get you if there's any change."
As Teddy reluctantly turns to leave, Sweetheart emits a soft sigh. Cherry and Teddy immediately turn to her, could she be waking up at last? She groans as her eyelids flutter, struggling to open. Cherry jumps up and calls down the hall for the doctor. Sweetheart turns her head toward her mother's voice.
"Mom? Is that you?"
"Yes, dear! Oh, praise the lord, you're awake!" She squeals with delight and grabs for her daughter's hand.
"What happened? Did I have the baby yet?"
"The baby is fine, Sweetheart. You just left us for awhile is all, but you're back now." She hugs her daughter and moves aside. "Look who else is here."
Sweetheart looks past her mother and finally notices Teddy in the room, frozen in place and holding something in his arms. It stirs, and she realizes at once that it must be their little girl. She smiles brightly.
"Teddy? I'm so glad you're ok! I was so worried." Her smile fades a bit, "Why did you want to leave me?"
Rose, Mr. Shire, Ace, and the doctor come flying in to see what the commotion is about. They all stand with mouths wide open as they realize Sweetheart is fully awake.
Teddy moves closer to her. "I'm fine, and I'm so glad you are awake. You scared me, too. But everything is ok now, I had an epitome."
Rose just laughed. "You mean, an epiphany??" She snorted, amused by her brother's botched attempt at using a "big" word.
Teddy glares back at Rose, "Yeah, that. Anyway, I finally realized how selfish I've been. I just wanted to tell you that I'm really sorry, and let you know I'll never leave you again." He leaned over to kiss Sweetheart on the cheek, and snuggle with her and their new baby.
The next day, ALL of their friends showed up for visiting hours. They had all heard what had happened by now, and wanted to make sure their friends were ok. And to see the new baby, of course.
"Aww, what's her name?" Starlight asks as she gently strokes the baby's chubby cheeks.
Teddy and Sweetheart look at each other. Sweetheart smiles and proudly responds, "Sugardust."
Teddy rolls his eyes at the frilly name she has chosen for their daughter. Remind me again why the hell I let her pick?
"What? What's wrong with Sugardust?" Sweetheart crosses her arms in mock offense by his reaction.
Teddy shakes his head, "Nothing...I just don't want to be seen at the park one day yelling out Sugardust. It's embarrassing. I mean, why don't you just call her Powder Puff?"
Everyone in the room giggles. "Oh, c'mon Teddy." Rose nudges. "I think that's a really cute name for her, Sweetheart."
"Yeah, it suits her." Starlight nods.
"Whatever. I'm naming the next one Spike." Teddy smirks.
