"Fourfold..." Sweetheart smiled at Teddy's muttering and elbowed him in his side while Rose stood totally clueless.
"So how far along are you? Have you told anyone else yet?" Rose bounded over to Sweetheart, placing a hoof over her stomach.
"You're the first actually. I'm only about six weeks, I don't think the baby's kicking yet. It's barely the size of a lima bean!"
"Oh great, beans come in pods of like four and FIVE!"
Rose leaned over to whisper in Sweetheart's ear, "What's his problem?"
Sweetheart giggled, "Teddy's worried I'll pop out four kids cuz multiple births run in both our families."
"Oh. Well that is a real possibility. But look at it this way bro, if she does you can get through all your kids at once and be done with it!" Rose and Sweetheart laughed as Teddy's mouth hung open in disbelief.
"I can't believe you just said that! You are so not helping!" Rose and Sweetheart laughed even harder as Sweetheart whispered something in Rose's ear. "Okay, yeah, just keep it up. You two just love gangin' up on me, don't you?"
*In unison* "Uh-huh!"
After spending the rest of the afternoon at Rose's, Sweetheart returned home at her regular time after school. She was positive her parents would've already received a call from the school informing them that she hadn't been to any of her classes that day, but knew she'd have to face them sooner or later. To her surprise, nothing seemed out of the ordinary. Sweetheart walked in the door, her mom asked her about her day, gave her a freshly baked chocolate chip cookie, and Sweetheart went up to her room to "do her homework". Just as she put her books down on her bed, the phone rang.
"Hello? Teddy?"
"It's me, Starlight."
"Oh, hi Starlight. What's up?"
"I was worried about you. You weren't at school, is everything ok?"
"Everything's fine, I spent the day with Teddy. Didn't anyone else notice I was gone today too? Like my teachers?"
"Of course, you sit in the front row in every class!"
"Well then, how come my parents don't know I wasn't there? I was expecting a lecture when I walked in, but my mom seems clueless."
"Oh, well don't worry about that. I covered for ya."
"You did? Wow, thanks! You didn't have to do that."
"Hey, what are friends for? I had a feeling it was for something important, and I know how your parents are."
"You have no idea how indebted I am to you now!"
"No prob, just don't forget I'm always here for ya if you ever need to talk, about anything, ok?"
"I know, thanks Starlight. Buh bye."
"Bye." Starlight knew there was something going on, but she couldn't very well force Sweetheart into telling her about it. She'd just have to wait till Sweetheart was ready to let her in.
