Oh no, he's not getting off that easy this time. Ace got up to catch up with Teddy. "Where are you going? Ya know, you can't run away from all your problems. That doesn't make them go away."
"Shut up, who asked you?? And if you must know, I am going to get royally plastered."
"Drinking them away doesn't work either."
"Well, thank you Mr. Perfect. I guess I'm just not smart enough to figure stuff like that out myself."
"What the hell is that supposed to mean?"
"Oh come off it Ace! You think you have the answer to everything. You always do everything right and everyone else is always wrong. Well I'm sorry if I don't live up to your high standards."
"What? I never said that, and you know I'm far from being perfect."
"Coulda fooled me. Would you have ever gotten yourself into this much trouble?"
Ace stopped, he didn't know how to answer that without coming off as degrading. At least to someone like Teddy. Ace had to be careful how he worded things around him.
"That's what I thought. You're way too smart for that, and I'm just too stupid."
"Stop putting words in my mouth damnit! I never said any of that, where are you getting all this?"
"You didn't have to. Just go back to your dumb game and leave me alone." Teddy continued on his way as Ace's soccer buddies walked up.
"Yo, you comin' back or what?"
"Yeah." Ace turned around as they all headed back over to the soccer field. Maybe Teddy would be more rational tomorrow.
Teddy got back to his apartment to find Amaretto, one of his roommates-the only one he really got along with, in front of the TV with a case of beer on the floor next to him. Obviously he wasn't having a good night either. He and his girlfriend had been having problems, they'd probably just gotten into another fight. Niether of them said a word as Teddy sat down next to him on the couch and he handed Teddy a beer. They quickly finished the case as they watched "the game". They didn't care who was playing or what the score was, and weren't really rooting for either side in particular. So when Thunder came in with a "So what's the score?", all he got was a double dose of blank stare. Thunder retreated with his perplexed look to his room to watch the game on his TV.
Teddy couldn't stand it anymore, he just had to see Sweetheart. He got up and left as silently as he'd arrived, slowly walking to her house as he tried to figure out a way to see her without her parents knowing. Needless to say, the beer cloud wasn't helping. When he got there he just sat down across the street and watched her bedroom window. Her light was on so she was still up, he hoped maybe she'd walk by it and he could at least see her. He didn't know how long he stayed there, but eventually her light went off. He didn't move, debating on whether or not to go knock on her window or something. Just then her father came out and started calling for their cat Springfield. The grey tabby cat came zipping out from the bushes into the warm house. Steel started to close the door to lock up for the night when he noticed Teddy across the street before he could even attempt to hide from view. He yelled something before slamming the door closed and running to his phone. He was just waiting for Teddy to do something stupid like this so he'd have a reason he could successfully warp to serve his ultimate plan of getting rid of Teddy for good.
Outside Teddy hadn't really caught what Steel had said but he was pretty sure the word "police" was in there somewhere. He decided to return to his apartment, coming here tonight probably wasn't such a hot idea. By the time he got there the police were already waiting for him. Amaretto and Thunder stood in the doorway looking quite confused. What the hell was going on?
