When viewing the natural beauty of Duluth-Superior, one is immediately taken in by the spectacular natural elements that make up the area: the immensity of Lake Superior, the breathtaking panoramic views from the many vantage points along Skyline Drive, and the interesting activity of an international seaport with ocean going ships and sailboats traversing through the ship canal daily.

The city itself stretches 26 miles along an ancient fault line from the unique valleys of Jay Cooke State Park in the west to Lake Superior's North Shore on its eastern limit. The 600 foot high gabbro bluffs shadowing the city provide nearly every park with it's own series of fantastic waterfalls. There are more than 30,000 acres of wooded forest preserved within the city's parks, providing unlimited opportunities for residents and visitors alike to enjoy some quiet solitude anytime of the year. And oh yes, it usually is "Cooler by the Lake".
