The Family of John Mabrey Fisher
John Mabrey Fisher was the only son of Thomas Fisher to leave North Carolina. Sometime after the Civil War he and his wife Martha with daughters John Ellis and Lucy left home for good. Once settled they had several more children all born in Texas. Pictured above are John, Martha, and three of their youngest children. The tall boy in the rear is Wiley Vick Fisher, who later became the police chief in Temple, Texas, where he was murdered by the man who ran against him for office.
