King Family Photo Album

John D. King was born around 1850 in North Carolina. Sometime around 1877, he married Mary Savannah Hales, daughter of Edwin and William Ann Viverette Hales.Their family can be viewed at Rootweb at this link: The John King Family

The pictures below were in the possession of the oldest daughter Mary Elizabeth King Viverette at her death. They were then passed down to her oldest daughter May Perry and then after her death to her daughter Flora Mae Gray who has graciously shared them with the rest of the family.

Mary Savannah Hales was the oldest child of William Ann Viverette and Edwin Hales. She was born in Nash County in 1863 and died in 1938. She and John King farmed in Halifax County near Brinkleyville.

I have eight children recorded in the family tree, but there may have been more. If anyone has additional information on this branch of the family, I would love to hear from you. See the e-mail address at the bottom of the page.

Elizabeth King Viverette with her sister Helen King Moore and daughter May Perry circa 1950."Lizzie" married Sam Viverette and reared 9 children near Enfield, N.C., where Sam ran the local dairy. Helen married Robert Moore and lived in New York City, where she was an executive secretary at the United Nations office.

Mittie "Duck" King circa 1910. Mittie married Joe Shaw and lived in Richmond, Virginia.

These two pictures were labeled Edward King (left) and Charlie King. I don't know if these were sons of John and Savannah King or nephews. Since they were found with pictures of the immediate family of Lizzie King, in all likelihood they were her brothers. If anyone knows, please e-mail me below.
